Geosynthetic & Sitework

Geosynthetics are the generally polymeric products used to solve civil engineering sitework problems. This includes eight main product categories:geotextiles, geogrids, geonets, geomembranes, geosynthetic clay liners, geofoam, geocells and geocomposites. The polymeric nature of the products makes them suitable for use in the ground where high levels of durability are required. Properly formulated, however, they can also be used in exposed applications.

Geosynthetics are available in a wide range of forms and materials, each to suit a slightly different end use.

The Ultimate Wet Curing Blanket.

When floor appearance is everything, UltraCure™ is the wet curing method chosen by top professionals to provide thorough hydration, less discoloration and a more evenly cured slab. Unlike other single-use blankets which tend to dry out after 3-4 days, UltraCure NCF™ (Natural Cellulose Fabric) provides constant hydration and maintains a 100% relative humidity condition on the slab for the entire 7-day curing period (with proper installation).

The blanket features non-staining, super absorbent fibers that effectively trap water and serve as a hydrating reservoir for the slab as it cures. UltraCure NCF also features a white poly backing, which provides constant visual reinforcement that the slab remains wet for the entire curing period.

The superior water retention ability of UltraCure NCF allows the blanket to absorb more than 46 gallons of curing water per 1,600 sq. ft. roll, providing the critical moisture required for the long term wet curing of concrete surfaces. With typical application and proper installation, the superior absorbency demonstrated by UltraCure NCF means there’s no need to re-wet the slab. UltraCure NCF is designed to remain moist for up to 7 days.

After the UltraCure NCF disposable curing blanket is removed, you will discover the concrete surface has less dust, debris, and contaminants. UltraCure NCF™ lays flat longer on the surface than most other methods, and helps prevent foreign material from accessing the slab/surface. A cleaner concrete surface will allow easier installation of surface hardeners.

Using UltraCure NCF also helps reduce material costs, installation labor, and totally eliminates the need of costly storage and transportation of traditional wet cure methods.

The Long Duration Wet Curing Blanket.

UltraCure DOT™ is our heaviest duty curing blanket. It features a perforated vapor barrier applied to one side to help minimize concrete overheating, maintain moisture levels and provide protection against UV degradation. It is also available in non-perforated for vertical applications.

With proper installation, UltraCure DOT™ provides constant hydration and maintains a 100% relative humidity condition on the slab for wet curing curing durations up to 14 days.

As with all UltraCure products, UltraCure DOT™ wicks itself to the concrete surface, helping to prevent foreign material including dust, debris and contaminants to reach the surface. The blanket stays in place without the need to weight down the edges.

Each 800 foot roll of UltraCure DOT™ can absorb up to 55 gallons of curing water providing the critical moisture required for the long term wet curing of concrete surfaces. With typical application and proper installation, UltraCure DOT™ helps reduce material costs, installation labor, and totally eliminates the need of costly storage and transportation of traditional wet cure methods.

ZipStrip

The original ZipStrip control joint is a rigid polystyrene extrusion that creates a straight line, controlled crack on the surface of all on grade slabs. ZipStrip eliminates random cracking in all variations and thicknesses of slabs where a control joint is required. ZipStrip is the economic alternative to saw cutting to create similar straight line surface joints.

Woven Geotextiles

Nilex Woven Geotextiles are often used for separation and stabilization in the construction of roads. The woven geotextile’s separation action prevents the mixing of dissimilar soils allowing each soil layer in the road structure to function as intended. The high tensile strength and low elongation properties of woven geotextiles impart stability into the road section reducing rutting and extending roadway life.

Woven geotextiles are also used in filtering and reinforcement applications.

Flexible Fabric Concrete Forms

Flexible fabric concrete forms allow the designer to place a hard, concrete material in locations where previously it was impossible to form concrete. The flexible fabric concrete forms can be placed on almost any surface (even underwater). The form is pumped full of a structural grout for maximum strength. Once hardened, the concrete provides permanent protection. These systems are used for erosion protection, for protection of geomembranes, and anywhere else where a hard surface is required and concrete forming is a problem.

Flexible fabric concrete forms are often used for shoreline protection where the concrete layer protects the embankments from wave and wind action. Other uses of flexible fabric concrete forms are to line channels, canals, outfalls, splash pads, and run-off ditches. Flexible fabric concrete forms are occasionally used to protect slopes from erosion, and to line the collection ditches and splash pads at the base of steep slopes.

InsulFoam® GF (EPS Geofoam) is a lightweight, geo-synthetic fill material that consists of closed-cell expanded polystyrene (EPS) and meets or exceeds the requirements of ASTM D6817 Standard Specification for Rigid Cellular Polystyrene Geofoam. InsulFoam® GF is used both as an alternative to various fill-materials and as a soil stabilizer, and can also be used in various engineered applications.
